“Sushi” captures the second before a grizzly bear tries to bite into a jumping salmon. Time is suspended and the resolution of the action is unknown (does the salmon get away, or does it get eaten?). The fast-paced action is expressed by the hand motion in the linework, bubbles of water splashing, and the expressions in the eyes of the two animals (fear/focus and determination). The piece is inspired after an image by photographer Chris McLennan. Professionally printed on Hot Press Uncoated Paper, 17mil.
